ARAB, Ala. – After enjoying a bye week last week, the Arabian Knights were back in action on their home field Friday night and after starting the game a little slow, they pulled away to shut out the Springville Tigers 27-0. Arab took advantage of multiple Springville turnovers in the win.

The Tigers were putting together a good drive in the opening quarter and were able to move the chains with a fake punt, but a fumble recovered by the Knights cut the drive short and gave the ball back to the Arab offense. After a scoreless first quarter, the Knights took advantage of great field position after a dropped snap on a Springville punt and an Ed Jonhson touchdown pass put them in front 7-0 early in the second quarter.

The Knights fumbled the ball away to the Tigers on their next possession, but Arab was once again able to recover a Springville fumble later in the second to get the ball back. The Knights took advantage of the turnover and punched in another touchdown just before the half to stretch the lead to 14-0 at the break.

Arab came out hot in the third quarter and scored on its first play when Johnson handed the ball to Drake Franklin, and he sprinted 65 yards down the sideline for a touchdown that made it 21-0 to start the second half. The Knights recovered a muffed punt later in the third and knocked through a field goal a few plays later to make it 24-0 midway through the period.

Arab’s defense continued to make things difficult for the Tigers in the fourth quarter and after another field goal put the Knights on top 27-0, John Ray Wilks came up with an interception in the final minutes of the game to secure a 27-0, shutout win for Arab.

The Knights improve to 7-2 with the win and will be on the road next week for their regular season finale against Boaz.
