HOLLY POND, Ala. — The Tarrant Wildcats made the trip to Holly Pond to face The Broncos. It was a beautiful night for football at Thomas Michelfelder field and Head Coach Mark Cornelius had his Broncos well prepared for the game.

Holly Pond received the opening kickoff and the Wildcats tried to catch them off guard with an onside kick. The Broncos took advantage of the good field position as Nik Goodwin opened up the scoring for Holly Pond and with 8:06 left in the first the Broncos lead 7-0.

Tarrant was unable to move the ball against the powerful Bronco defense and it turned the ball over on downs when a fourth down pass attempt fell incomplete, giving the Broncos the ball at the Wildcats’ 40.

The Broncos gained 3 yards on a run up the middle and then they had a 37-yard touchdown pass called back due to holding. The Broncos found themselves on their own 43, facing third down and long but Landon Perkins broke free for a 57-yard touchdown run, his first of the night, and Holly Pond moved ahead 13-0 with 6:22 left in the first quarter.

Before the half, Perkins tore off another 52-yard run for a touchdown and Kadin Suryono and Andy Light joined him in the end zone before the break to give Holly Pond a 32-0 advantage at halftime.

Tarrant received the second half kickoff but failed to get a first down.

Perkins picked up right where he left off, scoring on two more touchdown runs of 45 yards and 56 yards to add to the lead in the third quarter before the junior varsity took over.

With Sawyer Olinger leading the junior varsity of Holly Pond, he ran one in from 14 yards out to make it a 52-0 game with six minutes left in the final period.

Tarrant did manage to put up six points on the board in the final five minutes of the game, but Holly Pond’s Damon Raymond answered with a 78-yard touchdown run with 3:59 left in the game to cap off a dominant, 59-6 victory for the Broncos.

Holly Pond improves to 3-3 with the win and will be back home next week to face Winfield.
