CULLMAN, Ala. – The Friends of the Public Libraries of Cullman County will be partnering with Cullman’s Panda Express on Saturday, Aug. 14, for a fundraising event. It will be from 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. and will allow 20% of purchase prices to be donated to the Friends of the Public Libraries of Cullman County. Panda Express is located at 5505 Alabama Highway 157, adjacent to the north Walmart. To donate, the fundraising event code, 324284, should be given to the cashier.

How did the partnership between Friends and Panda Express come to be?

Renee Welsh with Friends shared about the development of the partnership between Panda Express and the Friends of the Public Libraries of Cullman County, saying, “In late December 2019 – the Friends researched the opportunity to host a Chinese Lunar New Year event (pre-pandemic) in early January 2020. Our research led us to the Panda in the community program opportunity. They have a phenomenal interactive / creative Let’s Explore: Lunar New Year. We scheduled it with the local team–they led the event with such energy and excitement—Panda’s mascot came too! With a lunch! About 50 participants enjoyed a session of the cultural differences in celebrating the New Year. The sponsorship extended to a discovery that Panda Express offers neighborhood fundraisers.”

She continued, “Travis and his team have been phenomenally supportive throughout the events—with the pandemic social distancing challenges, and ensuring precautionary measures are managed. The Friends say ‘xie xie’ to the local Panda Express team for their love of the Cullman County Public Libraries! Make sure to stop by this Saturday and support the Friends!”
