Obituary: Emerson Clarke “E.C.” Alston, Jr.

Emerson Clarke “E.C.” Alston, Jr., 87, of Addison, Alabama died from liver cancer on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

E.C. was born on July 17, 1934 in Addison, Alabama. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church No. 2. E.C. was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a minesweeper in the Navy. He was a member of the Freemasons for many years. One of his biggest delights was his years of coaching football at Lynn High School. E.C. served as principal at Falkville High School from 1965 – 1967. He was in insurance sales until his retirement. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church No. 2 in Addison, where services will be held at 2 p.m.  Brother William McClellan will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

E.C. is survived by his wife: Regina “Reggie” Plyer Alston; his children: Paula (Joe) Alston Hardin, Anita (Larry) Kilpatrick and Kevin (Roxanne) Alston; grandchildren: Rob Clemmons, Hannah Hardin Witt, Haley Hardin Roberts, Riley Kilpatrick, Connor Kilpatrick and Michelle Drucker and great-grandchildren: Landon Terry, Rhett Roberts, Tyde Witt and Saban Witt.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Nelda June Butler Alston and parents: Emerson Clarke and Lizabelle Dewberry Alston.
