CULLMAN, Ala. – Two Cullman-based businesses, White Willow and Karma’s Coffeehouse, are recipients of this year’s Alabama Magazine’s “Best in Bama” awards.

White Willow owner Libby Crider spoke of the win for Best Furniture & Interiors saying, “We were just so excited to find out. We were not expecting it. We really did not even consider ourselves in the running because we are kind of a new store to Cullman.”

Though it only went into business this year, White Willow has been making huge steps. It originally began in a small 900 square foot shop just around the corner from their current location at 302 First Ave. SE. Since outgrowing that location and finding their footing within their new store, they have gained a huge clientele base with property buyers on Smith Lake.

“We advertise in Alabama Magazine and for Best of Bama, people nominate you and the winner is voted on, but with Best of Bama, you don’t know that you have been nominated until the end when they announce the winner,” continued Crider.

White Willow offers full-service interior design from furniture selection to placing items and hanging art. Crider explained, “We have done a few stagings for homes but mostly, we work for the customer or purchaser of the home.”

White Willow employees select the store’s furniture and design items from two markets, one in Georgia and one in North Carolina. “We sell off the floor or we order custom furniture. We have all of the fabrics back there so you can pick. Say you liked that sofa, but you did not like the fabric – it is very customizable. We have some customers that we design every detail of their homes,” shared Crider, “I think that Cullman has become kind of a shopping destination for lots of local cities because we have several furniture stores and several clothing boutiques, and I think we all just work well together. If we do not have something, we will send customers somewhere else. We really do all work as a team.”

The other local business that brought home a Best of Bama title is Karma’s Coffeehouse with its fourth win for the title of Best Coffeehouse.

Alabama Magazine wrote, “–Karma’s was built to be a place for the community. Specializing in espresso drinks crafted by baristas, they also offer chai, matcha, smoothies, chillers, a variety of teas and much more.”
