HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Department of Nursing Education (DNE) is resuming in-person information sessions for students interested in or planning to apply to the nationally-recognized program. The sessions allow students to meet DNE faculty and staff, get information about the program, tour the facilities and more.

The “Nursing Information Session — Exploring Nursing at WSCC” will be held Monday, July 19 at 2 p.m. in the School of Nursing and Center for Science. Potential students seeking advising should bring their transcripts to the informational meeting.

These sessions will be beneficial to students seeking entry into the program during the spring 2022 semester. Applications for the spring 2022 semester are being accepted now through Sept. 1. Attending the session provides students with one point towards their total course point total, used in selecting applicants. Preregistration is available on the Nursing website or link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X2HZD86. The next round of applications will be for the fall 2022 semester, with application submission open March 15-May 15.

The Wallace State Department of Nursing Education is a two-time designee as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing. It offers certificate and degree options in the traditional program. Students completing the first three semesters can sit for the NCLEX exam to be a Licensed Practical Nurse, with those completing the final two semesters allowed to sit for the NCLEX exam to be a Registered Nurse.

Wallace State Nursing also offers a joint enrollment program with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which allows students to concurrently earn both the associate in applied science and bachelor’s degrees in Nursing from both institutions. There are four semesters of pre-requisite courses to complete before applying to Wallace State and UAB for the joint enrollment program, as well as completing the final five semesters.
