Cullman man arrested in south side shooting

CULLMAN, Ala. – Following a late evening shooting in the area of Golf Course Road on Cullman’s south side, Michael Allen Oliver, 43, of Cullman, was arrested and charged with assault 3rd degree. Following the incident, Oliver is alleged to have fled the scene, and was taken into custody after CCSO deputies and Cullman police searched a residential area around Golf Course Road (County Road 490) and County Road 488. 

According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, “An argument had occurred between Oliver and the victim which resulted in Oliver shooting the victim. It was determined that the weapon used was a pellet gun. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.” 

Oliver, the alleged shooter, was out on bond in multiple cases, including charges of possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, possession of prohibited liquor, illegal possession of prescription drugs and obstruction of justice/false identity. 

As of Wednesday evening, Oliver remained in the Cullman County Detention Center.
