CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter has love to spare this week, so Donna Ruttkay shares a bonus Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:
Moxie is a 1.5-year-old plott hound mix. She’s a laid-back, low-to-medium energy pet who’s skilled on her leash. She craves human companionship and would like nothing better than to come into the room where you are and fall asleep on the floor by your feet, while still demonstrating respect for personal space.
Ruttkay calls her “an unassuming and trusting girl who stays real close to you.”
Moxie has the makings of a good therapy, companion or reading dog.
Moxie’s adoption fee is $100 which includes DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, spaying, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24-Pet-Watch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
