Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville. Reverend Bo Pruett will be officiating. Visitation will be at Hanceville Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.

She was born on August 3, 1941 to Odis and Allene (Grimmett) Ponder and died at the age of 79 surrounded by her family on May 6, 2021.

Mrs. Stricklin had a heart full of love and compassion. Whether it be a relative, a friend or someone she simply crossed paths with, she always had time for a conversation. One of the most precious things about Sherry was her contagious smile and of course, the laughter to go along with it. To say that she had a joyful personality is simply an understatement. If nothing else, she loved to sing, especially her favorite gospel hymns. She was also a member of Addington Chapel United Methodist Church in Cold Springs, Alabama.

Survivors include her children: Tom Stricklin, Cindy Stricklin, Jennifer (John) Vincent, and Janna (Terry) Fendley; grandchildren: Meagan (Jamie) Danish, Kristen Denney, Jared Vincent, Brittany Couey, Jordan (Jeremiah) Hogeland, Paige Fendley, Seth Fendley, Noah Fendley and Jerrica Vincent; 10 great-grandchildren and her brother: Fred Ponder.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Harlan Stricklin.

The family would like to send a special ‘thank you’ to her caregivers, Annette Campbell and Christie Tolbert, as well as the staff at Encompass Health for the amazing love, care and support.
