BAILEYTON, Ala. The Baileyton Town Council was short one council member Monday night as council member Dewayne Sumner continues to recover at home from a lawnmower accident. The first meeting at the new Baileyton Town Hall began with the recognition of all elected officials, past and present, who have served the community of Baileyton.

Following the special presentation, the council tackled a short agenda. The town is currently having issues with their phone service. Phones are down at the old town hall and phone installation at the new town hall has hit a few snags. Mayor Windell Calloway suggested that anybody needing to speak with Pat Gilbert, himself or any town official, to reach out on social media until the phones can be fixed, hopefully this week.

The town’s bucket truck is now fixed. Mayor Calloway thanked Commissioner Kerry Watson, Joe Perry and the Cullman County Garage. The towns weather siren is currently not working as they wait on parts to arrive.

Work at the town’s park continues as new curbs are almost complete. Other efforts to beautify are ongoing as the town prepares for the Fun Day in the Park celebration scheduled for June 12.

Baileyton Town Council meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Baileyton Town Hall. The public is invited to attend.
