VINEMONT, Ala. – For the seventh consecutive season, the West Point Lady Warriors are your Cullman County Tournament champions. The Lady Warriors knocked off Cold Springs, Good Hope and eventually Holly Pond in the championship game on the way to this year’s county title. Carlie Wilkins got the start and the win against the Lady Broncos after allowing just one hit and striking out seven batters in the 15-0, three inning win.

West Point scored early and often in Tuesday night’s title game. An RBI single from Lexi Shadix drove in Bethany Minck to make it 1-0 in the first and Brindlee Phillips laced an RBI double into left field to bring home Shadix and make it 2-0. The Lady Warriors stretched their lead to 3-0 going into the second after Kaci Minck crossed the plate on an error.

West Point continued adding to its lead in the second, pulling ahead 4-0 after Bethany Minck drove an RBI double into center field. Lexi Kimbril scored on a passed ball to tack on another run and a few pitches later, Wilkins ripped an RBI double into right field to put two more runs on the board and make it a 7-0 game. That’s when Sydney Sellers blasted a homerun over the left-center field fence and gave the Lady Warriors an 8-0 advantage going into the third inning.

Wilkins struck out the next three batters she faced and West Point went right back to work on offense. An RBI double off the bat of Kimbril drove in Nikki Tyree to extend the lead to 9-0 and three straight walks loaded up the bases for Wilkins. Wilkins swung at the first pitch she saw and drilled a bases-clearing triple into right field to make it a 12-0 game. Wilkins scored on a passed ball a couple pitches later and a bases-loaded walk later in the inning made it 14-0. Kimbril returned to the play with a chance to end things early and she punched an RBI single through the infield to drive in Braelee Quinn and secure a 15-0 win and a county title for the Lady Warriors.

Wilkins got the win on the mound and racked up five RBIs at the plate on two hits. Kimbril (two hits) and Sellers (HR) each drove in a pair of runs and Minck, Shadix and Phillips each posed a hit and an RBI for West Point as well.
