Water park will be largest of its kind in Alabama

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday evening approved a bid from The Entertainment Group, LLC, dba Union Aqua Parks, in the amount of $158,413.25, for a custom inflatable water park to be located in one of the existing ponds at the Palomino Resort RV park on County Road 222. According to City Clerk Wes Moore, the feature will be the largest of its kind in Alabama, and water park fans will have to travel to Orlando to find the closest park larger than Cullman’s.

The water park will feature multiple connected structures that will allow users to climb, run, jump and slide, as well as giving multiple points for resting and people-watching. According to Cullman Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism director Zac Wood, the park will be able to hold up to 217 people at one time. Union Aqua Parks offers numerous modular designs, but the park coming to Cullman will be custom built for the resort.

Wood told The Tribune, “Park and Rec is excited to offer an aqua park unlike anything in this area. In the summer of 2021, it’ll be ready to go for campers who are there at the RV park, and then also folks that just want to come down from the community for a day pass, and come in and enjoy the park. It’s going to be a really, really, really, really great experience.

According to Wood, installation should begin in early May, and the park should be open for visitors between midMay and early June.
