ARLEY, Ala. — Addison traveled 10 miles south to take on Meek Tuesday night and the Lady Tigers were not gracious hosts. Meek defeated the young Lady Bulldogs 6-4.

Addison opened up the game facing Lady Tiger Pitcher Marlee Mosley who put the Dawgs down in order. Addison countered with their ace, Anna Grace “The Glove” Luker. Luker, uncharacteristically, struggled early. Luker hit Savannah Smith with a pitch and that was followed by three consecutive bloop singles by Courtney Lane, Madison Smith and Abby Phillips. Smith’s single brought home Lane. The next batter Hannah Taylor lined a sharp single to center bringing home Smith. One out later, another single brought home the third Lady Tiger run. Luker regrouped and then struck out the final two batters of the inning. Meek led 3-0 at the end of one.

Meek’s Mosley shut down the Baby Bulldogs in the second, third and fourth innings, not allowing a hit. Mosley wasn’t dominant but she pitched to contact and allowed her defense to help her, which they did. Meek struck for two runs in the bottom of the fourth. A one out walk to Savannah Smith, was followed by a double by Courtney Lane brining home Smith. Madison Smith singled bringing home Lane. The Smiths are sisters, with Savannah being a senior and Madison a junior. At the end of four, Meek led 5-0.

Addison’s Saige Carter ripped a double to left for the Baby Bulldogs first hit of the game. Katie Barrett singled putting runners on first and third with no one out. Meek’s Mosley settled down and got two outs. Macayla Wilkins got a hustle infield hit to bring home Carter for the Baby Dawgs first run. Mosley got the final out to get out of the jam and Meek still led 5-1. Meek went down in order in the fifth.

Addison got nothing in the sixth and Meek answered with one of their own without getting a hit. Two Addison errors allowed Meek to take a 6-1 lead into the final frame.

The Baby Dawgs didn’t quit and put three on the board in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough as Meek came away with a 6-4 win.

Meek was led by Mosley who went the distance, seven innings, scattering five hits, striking out four while walking two.

Meek had Savannah Smith went 0-2 with two walks and scored two runs. Courtney Lane went 2-four with a double, two RBIS and two runs scored. Madison Smith went 2-4 with two RBIS and a run scored. Abby Phillips went 2-4. Hannah Taylor went 1-3 with an RBI.

“The Glove” went six innings, gave up seven hits, striking out 10 and walking one. Wilkins went 1-4 with two RBIS. Carter went 1-3 with a double and a run scored. Katie Barrett went 2-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Haley Walker went 1-3 with a run scored.

Addison moves to 6-4 on the season and Meek goes to 4-3-1.
