Obituary: Gladys Garrison Hayes

Gladys Garrison Hayes, 92, of Addison entered into rest Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Mrs. Hayes was born Aug. 1, 1928 in Winston County, Alabama. To most people who knew her, she was known as “Granny Hayes.” She was a hardworking poultry farmer who also had a very sweet personality, and there was no one who could fry potatoes like she could.    

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the Addison Church of God, where the funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway and Brother Jeff Wiggins will be officiating.

Gladys is survived by her children Retha Dale Kilgo, Gail (Jack) Thompson, Grant (Tanya) Hayes, Gregory Hayes and honorary daughter, Judy Hill Janeseke; grandchildren Lisha (Tommy) Lindsey, Brandon (Alyson) Kilgo, Robyn (Tom) Hand, Jessica (Brad) Haggard and Hayden (Oakley) Hayes; great-grandchildren Zeb Lindsey, Alex (Chase) Anderson, Kurt (Mikayla) Lindsey, Haley Kilgo, Elizabeth Kilgo, Christian Kilgo, Noel (Chase) O’Brien, Holli (Dillon) White, Jace Chambless and Fletcher Hayes; great-great-grandchildren Rylan, Chaisly and Roselyn O’Brien, Riften White, and Kane and Mia Anderson; and brother Odis Riddle.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ulyes Hayes; her father Fernando Garrison; her mother Fannie Garrison Riddle; step-father Roy Riddle; brothers Monroe, Amos, Ernest and Walter Garrison, and Leo Riddle; sisters Cloie Partridge and Ella Mae Hill; infant daughter Joyce Nell Hayes; son-in-law Jerry Wilkins; and daughter-in-law Debbie Hayes.

The pallbearers will be Brandon Kilgo, Hayden Hayes, Brad Haggard, Jace Chambless, Zeb Lindsey, Kurt Lindsey, Zeke Kilgo, and Chase O’Brien. Honorary pallbearers will be Fletcher Hayes and Christian Kilgo.
