CULLMAN, Ala. – Rumors Deli on Wednesday kicked off a fundraising and supply drive for the Cullman Area Animal Welfare Association (CAAWA), hoping to help its animal clients have a merry Christmas and happy new year.
According to Rumors Deli Owner Annette Harris, the drive will run through Christmas and maybe into early January, seeking to bring in:
- Dog houses and beds of all sizes
- Plastic travel crates of all sizes
- Cedar shavings
- Purina Puppy Chow
- Kong toys
- Credit at Lee’s Veterinary Hospital and Cullman Animal Hospital
Of course, CAAWA would also like to see some of its canine companions and feline friends find their forever homes during the Christmas season!
Rumors has an established reputation as a pet-friendly place, providing food and water for animals who bring their humans to the restaurant’s outside dining area, and handing out treats to pets in the cars that come through the drive-thru pickup line.
Harris told The Tribune, “I like helping CAAWA because these people don’t have a lot of help. They love animals with all their heart. They do things for the right reason. They are a no-kill shelter, finding foster homes for these dogs. They work strictly from donations and many times take money from their own pockets to take care of their needs, rescuing them and nursing them back to health. They need so much, and we just want to help in some way so we reached out to them to see what they needed and they gave us a list. We are hoping to get as much as we can for them.”
Donations can be dropped off at Rumors Deli, 601 Fourth St. SW, near the Main Avenue/U.S. Highway 278 intersection in downtown Cullman.
Monetary donations can be sent to CAAWA, PMD #16, 1236 Cullman Shopping Center NW, Cullman AL 35055.
