GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Susan Moore made the trip to Good Hope High School Friday night for some hoops action and for the Raiders, it was their first game of the season. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early 5-0 lead against Good Hope and kept the Lady Raiders off the board until Ivey Maddox netted a pair of free throws. Susan Moore’s press gave the Lady Raiders trouble in the opening period and that, combined with 3-point shooting, allowed the Lady Bulldogs to build a 16-4 lead midway through the first. The lead stretched to 22-6 late in the quarter but a 3-pointer by Heather Tetro trimmed the lead to 24-10 going into the second quarter.

A Rudi Derrick basket made it a 27-12 game early in the second and that was just the start of a big quarter for Derrick. A trey from Desire’ Odachowski cut the lead to 29-15 and another triple by Heather Tetro made it 32-18 with around four minutes to play in the half. That’s when Good Hope began to seize the momentum. A 3-pointer and an and-one play by Derrick pulled the Lady Raiders to within six with just over a minute to play in the quarter and she added another three to trim the lead to 36-31 with 30 seconds in the half. Derrick added a pair of free throws in the final seconds of the period to cur the lead all the way down to 36-33 going into the halftime break.

Susan Moore maintained a 40-33 advantage early in the third until a layup from Bailey Tetro and a jumper by Maddox made it 40-38. A Bailey Tetro 3-pointer brought the lead down to one at 42-41 midway through the third quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs managed to move back in front. The three’s continued to fall for Susan Moore and the lead grew to 54-46 going into the final frame.

It was tough sledding for the Lady Raiders offensively in the fourth quarter. Another trey from Bailey Tetro made it a 57-51 game early in the fourth and Heather Tetro knocked in a jumper to hold the lead to 62-53 with four minutes to play but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Lady Bulldogs and Susan Moore held on to win it 68-54.

Bailey Tetro and Derrick led Good Hope with 15 points each in the loss. Heather Tetro finished with eight, Maddox added seven and Renee Mcleod posted five. The Lady Raiders will try to bounce back from this one when they travel to take on Brewer Monday.

Good Hope continued to pour it on, pulling ahead 29-6 early in the second after a Lawton Farr 3-pointer. Baskets from K’mal Bell and Colton Lindsey extended the lead 35-6 midway through the quarter and another triple from Farr, followed by another Barnette bucket, made it a 40-8 game with less than two minutes to play in the half.
