CULLMAN, Ala. –  Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash along U.S. Highway 278 in Cullman County Monday afternoon. The incident happened at approximately 2:30 just west of Interstate 65.

Cullman Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigator Jonathan England said Efren Avila, 36, was driving westbound in a 2000 Plymouth Neon Highline, which crossed the center line and hit an eastbound 2010 Ford Fusion driven by Harold Kelly (age unavailable).

Avila was seriously injured and taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham by helicopter. Kelly was injured and transported by ambulance to Cullman Regional.

England said both men are Cullman County residents.
