PREP CROSS COUNTRY: St. Bernard Saints, Cold Springs Lady Eagles capture state crowns

DANVILLE, Ala. – For the second time in three years, the Cold Springs Lady Eagles are the class 1A-2A state champions. Meanwhile in class 3A, the St. Bernard Saints outpaced the rest of the field to bring home their first blue map since 2016. Reagan Parris, Brooke Crider, Macie Huffstutler and Emma Hancock placed second, third, fourth and 10th respectively to help lead Cold Springs past Hatton by a wide margin while the Saints narrowly defeated J.B. Pennington to secure their state title.

Cold Springs’ Ethan Edgeworth was this year’s individual champion in class 1A-2A after posting a time of 16:41.94, beating the next runner by just over 50 seconds. Vinemont’s Ethan Lemons ran a 16:37.37 to take home third place in the class 3A race and Holly Pond’s Christopher Putman finished just behind him in eight place with a time of 17:17.05. Fairview’s Peyton Bailey finished fourth in class 5A after recording a 16:38.16.
