BIRMINGHAM – UAB senior cornerback Brontae Harris has been named to the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Watch List, as announced by the award’s panel on Wednesday.
The honor is presented each year by CoSIDA, in association with The Associated Press and the Fiesta Bowl Organization, to three players who have overcome illness or injury with a remarkable comeback story. The overall winners of the award will be announced in conjunction with the 2021 Fiesta Bowl, held on Jan. 2 of next year.
After suffering a season-ending foot injury in the preseason of 2019, Harris has stormed back in his senior campaign, tallying 24 tackles to go along with four TFL and a sack. The Colony, Ala. native has also added two pass breakups and an interception to his stat line this season. He has led a defense that ranks 11th nationally in pass defense.
Harris is one of 53 players named to the watch list, and one of just four from Conference USA. For a full list of nominees for Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year, click here.
The Blazers return to action on Nov. 14 as they play host to North Texas with kickoff set for 2 p.m. from Historic Legion Field.
