CULLMAN, Ala. – With yet another hurricane bearing down on Alabama’s coastline, and Gov. Kay Ivey declaring a State of Emergency more than 24 hours before the storm made landfall Wednesday afternoon, the Cullman Electric Cooperative is on standby for any power outages from inclement weather that might affect the Cullman area.

“Please keep the Gulf Coast in your thoughts and prayers. It has been a brutal hurricane season, with many towns experiencing multiple hurricanes over a few months,” said Cullman EC Communications Director Oakleigh White.

The Cullman EC is preparing for any possible outages due to strong winds.

“We are monitoring Hurricane Zeta and the potential effect it could have on our service area tonight,” White said. “Heavy rain and strong winds are expected, so please stay weather aware.”

White said following social media is a good way for residents to keep track of the storm, but she said it’s not the best way to report outages.

“As always, we’ll do our best to keep you informed on our social media and keep your lights on,” she said. “Remember, outages are not monitored on social media. If you experience an outage, please use one of our four outage reporting options.”

Those four main methods for reporting an outage are:

Call: 256-737-3201

Online: www.cullmanec.com

Text: Text “OUT” to 85700
