Willow (Cullman County Animal Shelter)

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter’s Donna Ruttkay shares The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:

Willow is a Heeler/Aussie mix who’s just under a year old. She’s a truly laid-back, low-energy pet who’s skilled on her leash and has good spatial awareness. She enjoys splashing in the shelter’s kiddie pool, but most of all, cherishes human companionship.

Willow has the makings of a good therapy, companion or reading dog. Ruttkay feels that she might even have the skills needed to be a service dog.

Willow’s adoption fee is $100 which includes DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, spaying, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Good news!

Ruttkay reported that recent Pets of the Week Truman and Tundra have both found forever homes. Other dogs who might have found their way into this series were adopted as soon as they completed their hold periods and became available. Several dogs became available around the same time, so there’s love to share at the shelter.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
