Obituary: Joy Nixon Flynn

Joy Nixon Flynn, 75, of Cullman, Alabama passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020. Joy was born March 3, 1945 in Cullman, Alabama to Willard Lynwood and Mamie Katherine Deerr Nixon.

Mrs. Flynn is survived by her husband Rayburn R. Flynn; daughter Angela J. Stansberry (Raymond Sellers); son Jason R. Flynn (Kim); grandchildren Lynsey Todd (Tommy), Ashton Hammonds (Jerry), Kallie Wilkins (Corey), and Janie Peek (Jeremy); great-grandchildren Lucy Todd, Carter Hammonds, Flynn Wilkins, Rawlings Peek, and Turner Todd (great-grandson on the way); and brothers David Edward Nixon and Richard Warren Nixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clifford L. Nixon (Buddy).

A celebration of life graveside service for Mrs. Flynn will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Cullman City Cemetery. A celebration of life memorial service will occur at a later date.

Mrs. Flynn was a loving nurse to many people for years. She is known for her quilting skills where she won many ribbons, and some of her quilts have traveled to other countries to be on display.
