Good Hope City Council establishes municipal park hours

GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The Good Hope City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting Monday night and after approving the minutes and financials from past meetings, the council turned its attention to city parks. The council approved an ordinance establishing hours for the city’s public parks that reads as follows,

“1. Park Hours: Good Hope City Parks shall be open daily to the public between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. No person shall occupy or be present in any park during the hours it is not open to the public, provided that city personnel, police officers on official duty, or other city officers, or employees on park duty, or other persons with special permits or express written permission from the City of Good Hope or its agents, are not so restricted.

  1. Enforcement: Officials – The City of Good Hope through its designated agent(s) shall take such actions as are necessary for the enforcement of this ordinance consistent with city ordinances and state law. Law enforcement officers may issue appearance tickets in accordance with municipal ordinances and state law.

Enforcement – The City of Good Hope through its designated agent(s) shall have the authority to eject for a period of 24 hours from the park any person who violates this ordinance. Repeated violations of this ordinance may result in permanent ejection from any park.

Seizure of property – The City of Good Hope through its designated agent(s) shall have the authority to seize and confiscate any property, thing or device in the park used in violation of this ordinance.”

The council also opted to move its meeting scheduled for Nov. 9 to Nov. 2. For swearing in of new council members.

The Good Hope City Council will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting Monday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Good Hope City Hall.
