CULLMAN, Ala. – A Holly Pond man wanted in Morgan County for assaulting a woman with a hammer was arrested Friday in Cullman County. Joshua Adam Campbell, 37, was arrested by Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) investigators, with the assistance of the Cullman Police Department(CPD) Aviation Division.

According to a media release from the CCSO, a tip that Campbell was at a residence along U.S. Highway 278 near Berlin led investigators to the scene, where Campbell fled on foot. The CPD Aviation Division assisted with the search, and Campbell was found a short time later.

Campbell was wanted for second-degree assault in Morgan County, as well as unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, probation revocation and several failure to appear warrants in Cullman County.

“This was actually the second search our investigators were in today and both were ultimately successful in arresting the suspect,” said Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I am proud that anytime we get a tip our deputies and investigators will do everything they can to see those people are arrested. Anyone who assaults a woman with a hammer needs to be in jail and not freely walking around in the community.”

Campbell is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center without bond.
