Obituary: Hershel Walter Seymore

Hershel Walter Seymore, 76, of the Nesmith community passed away at his home Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020.

He was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Nesmith to E.O. and Zola Seymore.

He was saved at the age of 17 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and he graduated from Addison High School in 1962. Hershel served seven years in the National Guard and was a poultry farmer and truck driver for 54 years. He was a purchasing agent for Winston Quality Homebuilders, a lifelong member and trustee of Nesmith Church, and church cemetery custodian, a board member of Winston County Farmers Federation, and a member of American Truck Historical Society. He was a restaurant owner of Seymore’s BBQ and a lifelong baseball fan and he played for Nesmith Amateur League.

Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 31, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. at Nesmith Church where services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Nesmith Church Cemetery. Pastor Steton Hayes and Brother Joe Calvert will officiate.

Hershel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Seymore; sons and daughters-in-law Tommy (Jada) Seymore, Billy (Sherry) Seymore, and Mickey (Kim) Seymore; grandchildren Jackson (Caitlyn) Seymore, Lauren Seymore, Megan Seymore, Jake (Haley) Seymore, Kayla Clinton, Hannah Clinton, and Hayley Clinton; brothers and sisters-in-law Burson (Sue) Seymore and Jimmy (Jane) Seymore; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Donnie and Gloria Walden and Gloria Ann Netherton; great-grandchild Houston Seymore; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents E.O. and Zola Seymore; brother Herbert Seymore; brother and sister-in-law Burtis and Okelene Seymore; brother-in-law Jerry Netherton; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Tab and Lena Walden.
