FAIRVIEW, Ala. –- The Fairview Aggies played host to the Vinemont Eagles on a soggy senior night Thursday and after the Aggies and Eagles both collected wins last week, it was Fairview that came away victorious this week, 41-14.

Fairview received the opening kickoff and it didn’t take long for the Aggies to find the end zone. A heavy dose of the ground game paid off when on the seventh consecutive run of the drive resulted in a 5-yard touchdown by Tyler Simmons that put the Aggies up 7-0 with 8:30 remaining in the first quarter. Caden Jennings intercepted the ball on the second play of the ensuing Eagles drive to give the Aggies the ball back and five plays later. Fairview extended its lead to 14-0 thanks to a 19-yard connection from Parker Martin to Eli Frost.

The Aggies quickly retook possession by way of a fumble and five plays later, Martin extended the lead with a 20-yard scamper to the end zone, putting Fairview up 20-0 with 2:43 remaining in the opening quarter. After the Eagles failed to convert on fourth down, the Aggies found the end zone again as Martin this time found Jennings for a 13-yard touchdown to stretch the lead to 27-0 with 7:05 left in the first half. Another Eagles fumble turned the ball over again and a three-play drive, capped off by a 39-yard run by Martin, put the Aggies on top 34-0 with five minutes remaining in the first half. Simmons added another touchdown from 5 yards out to put Fairview up 41-0 at halftime.

Vinemont came out of the locker room still fighting and quickly scored on a 70-yard run by Brodie Spear to cut the lead to 41-7 with 10:15 left to play in the third quarter. Vinemont found the end zone once again early in the fourth quarter on a 52-yard run by Colby Miller, but it was too little, too late and the Eagles weren’t able to overcome the early lead. Fairview held on to win it at home 41-14.

The Aggies are now officially 1-0 after defeating Falkville last week in a jamboree game and now Vinemont. Fairview will try to stay in the win column next week on the road against Guntersville and the Eagles will aim to bounce back on the road against J.B. Pennington.
