BATTLEGROUND, Ala. – One person was killed in a shooting in the Battleground community in northwest Cullman County Monday night. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the victim as Tazz Wynn, 23, of Vinemont.

The CCSO said in a statement Monday night: “Late this evening, Monday, Aug. 24, there was a domestic incident in the Battleground community. Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators responded to the scene. One person is deceased from a gunshot wound. One suspect is detained. This is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community. More information will be released in the days to come.”

The incident happened at a residence in the 800 block of County Road 1101.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said the original call received was for a domestic issue.

“It’s not between a man and a woman,” he said from the scene late Monday night. “It’s between two men that were acquaintances of each other.”

No one has been charged. A spokesman for the CCSO said the case has now been turned over to the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office and will go to a grand jury.

Personnel from the Battleground Volunteer Fire Department, West Point Volunteer Fire Department and Cullman EMS also responded to the scene.
