(Update) 1 killed in early morning fire in Cullman County

CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – A Cullman woman was killed in a house fire in the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 21. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the victim as Kathy Farley, 63.

The home is located at 15 County Road 1646 between Berlin and Holly Pond near the Duck River Reservoir.

Firefighters from Berlin, Walter, Holly Pond and Fairview responded, along with Cullman EMS, just before 1 a.m.

Berlin Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ralph Laney, the first person to arrive on the scene, said the victim was the only person in the house when he arrived.

The victim’s son had already gotten out and run to a neighbor’s house to call 9-1-1.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, assisted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
