SIMCOE, Ala. – A fire that started around 10 a.m. Saturday damaged a hay barn on a farm northwest of Simcoe. Due to the remote location off County Road 1515, calls for assistance were sent by the Cullman EMS County Fire Dispatch Center to multiple departments with tanker trucks to transport water to the site. Gold Ridge, Fairview, Berlin and Vinemont Providence fire departments responded, along with Cullman EMS and the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was under control and crews began returning to service shortly after 1 p.m. Gold Ridge Chief Jerad Guthrie reported that one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene, but no other injuries were suffered by responders or civilians.
