CULLMAN, Ala. – Southern Eats, Meals to Go Owner Laci Schuman had a not-so-pleasant surprise when an employee opened up her business this morning. Someone stole the Masterbuilt smoker from the business’ back stoop.

Schuman said the theft occurred sometime after 8 p.m. Sunday night, before 9 a.m. Monday morning.

“I bought it in November and used to move it in and out of the building- until I got a false sense of security and had been leaving it out there because we were using it more often. The smoker is how we cook the tuna for the Smitty’s Smoked Tuna Dip and obviously our Ol Smokey Chicken Salad,” she said.

Schuman hopes video cameras at nearby businesses caught the thief or thieves on tape.

“I’m waiting to hear from the bank- I so hope their tag pops up!” she said. “It’s not the money- I mean $240, whatever; it’s the principle of the thing!”
