WEST POINT, Ala. – The West Point Town Council on Monday night discussed the 2020 Census and ways to make sure all residents are counted.

A family fun day will be held April 18 in an effort to boost participation. An enclosed trailer with computers will be at the park to help people fill out their census information. The Town will provide free hot dogs and hamburgers. Bouncy houses and other activities will be also be available. Prizes, including a 50-inch flat-screen TV, will be raffled off. Those who fill out their census forms or can provide proof of completing them will be entered into the raffle.

The Town is also actively seeking residents interested in having their properties annexed into the town limits of West Point.

Mayor Gerald Schafer said, “That is getting about the cutoff time for that. If we have anyone else, we’d have to do it by the end of next month.”
