CULLMAN, Ala. – A Cullman County man died after falling from the roof of a 6-story apartment building while working in Birmingham Tuesday morning. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office (JCCO) Wednesday morning confirmed the death of Taylor Curtis Gray, 23.

Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams confirmed Gray died following a fall from a rooftop at 7901 First Ave. South. He said the Birmingham Police Department is investigating the fall as an accident.

The incident happened at the East Lake House Apartments.

According to The Tribune’s Birmingham news partners, WVTM 13, Gray was working with a plumbing company, working with pipes on the roof of the 6-story building, when he got too close to the edge and fell. He landed on a hard awning over the front door between the first and second floors. It happened a few minutes after 10 a.m. Gray was pronounced dead soon after.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Gray’s family. You can find it at www.gofundme.com/f/taylor-grays-family.
