CULLMAN, Ala. –  A Good Hope man is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center without bond following his arrest Thursday by Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) investigators, with the assistance of Winston County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) investigators.

Preston Cheyenne Johnson, 36, is charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson is a convicted felon, according to the CCSO.

A media release from the CCSO said, “A report was filed with the WCSO for a stolen 1998 red C5 Corvette, and the CCSO received information this week that the vehicle could be in Cullman County.  CCSO investigators and WCSO investigators followed up on leads during the week on where the stolen corvette could be located. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the suspect above, Mr. Johnson, was in possession of the stolen vehicle.”

The stolen Corvette was located Thursday, according to the CCSO, in the suspect’s possession. The car was returned to its owner.

The suspect also allegedly had in his possession 13 grams of methamphetamine, needles and other drug paraphernalia and an AR-15.

“I am thankful we were able to recover the stolen vehicle for the owner and have it returned to him and thankful that the suspect is now sitting in jail where he belongs,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would also like to thank the investigators from our office and Winston County for the great job on this case.”

The CCSO said other charges may be added as the investigation continues.
