Berlin man charged with attempted murder

BERLIN, Ala. – A Berlin man was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder following a physical altercation in which he allegedly attacked another man.

Jason Wayne Payne, 42, is charged with attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

According to a statement from the CCSO, “Deputies responded to a disturbance on County Road 781 between two men. It was determined by CCSO deputies that the suspect, Jason Payne, had been in a physical altercation with another individual. That individual, the victim, sustained injuries from an attack from Mr. Payne.”

Payne is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
