FULTONDALE, Ala. – The Hanceville Bulldogs were dealt a solid defeat by the Fultondale Wildcats Friday night as the Bulldogs scored late in the fourth quarter to narrowly avoid a shutout.

(3-5) Hanceville held (7-1) Fultondale to only a safety in the first half of the Class 3A, Region 5 matchup, but the momentum belonged to Fultondale in the second half. The Wildcats piled on 31 more points after halftime to pull away and create separation between them and the Bulldogs.

Bulldog junior Brodie Malcom scored a touchdown with 17 seconds left in the game and the 2-point conversion cut the lead to 33-8, but it wasn’t enough for Hanceville and Fultondale held on to win it.

The Bulldogs will return home next Friday to host Locust Fork.
