PREP VOLLEYBALL: Cullman County Volleyball Tournament Day 1 recap; West Point, Fairview stay in winner’s bracket

WEST POINT, Ala. – This year’s Cullman County Volleyball Tournament officially got underway at West Point High School Monday afternoon and day one was full of sweeps. None of Monday’s six matches required more than two sets to settle and the Lady Aggies and Lady Warriors got through day one unbeaten. Fairview enjoyed a bye through the first round before knocking off Holly Pond and West Point got by Hanceville and Cold Springs to stay in the winner’s bracket going into Tuesday.

Cold Springs swept Good Hope to advance past the opening round and Holly Pond defeated Vinemont to get things started with a win as well. The Lady Raiders swept the Lady Bulldogs Monday night to eliminate them from this year’s tournament and Vinemont will face an elimination match against Cold Springs tomorrow at 3 p.m. The Lady Broncos will take on Good Hope in the loser’s bracket at 3 p.m. as well and in the winner’s bracket, The Lady Aggies will square off against West Point at 4 p.m.

Match one: Holly Pond 2 – Vinemont 0 (25-16, 25-13)

Match two: Cold Springs 2 – Good Hope 0 (25-10, 25-10)

Match three: West Point 2 – Hanceville 0 (25-5, 25-8)

Match four: Fairview 2 – Holly Pond 0 (25-17, 25-16)

Match five: West Point 2 – Cold Springs 0 (26-24, 25-6)

Match six: Good Hope 2 – Hanceville 0 (25-13, 25-10)
