PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Cold Springs wins small school title at Jesse Owens Classic; Saints, Lady Saints finish second

OAKVILLE, Ala. – This year’s Jesse Owens Classic was held at Oakville Indian Mounds Park Saturday morning and the Cold Springs Eagles collected another big win at one of the biggest meets of the season. The Eagles finished in first place ahead of St. Bernard by 20 points and the Lady Saints took home a second-place finish, scoring just eight points behind Evangelical Christian School and 15 points ahead of the Lady Eagles.

Individually, St. Bernard’s Madilyn Kerber placed second with a time of 20:18.37 and Cold Springs’ Reagan Parris rounded out the top five with a 20:52.30. On the boys side, Caleb Guthery ran a 17:01.17 to finish second for the Saints, Cold Springs’ Ethan Edgeworth and Jonathan Collett placed eighth and 10th with times of 17:25.74 and 17:37.97 respectively and Cullman’s Will Thompson finished 13th in the large school’s division after posting a time of 16:13.17.
