HOLLY POND, Ala. – After pulling off a big win at home over Hanceville last week to collect their first win of the season, the Holly Pond Broncos were back home for another regional showdown against the Fultondale Wildcats Friday night. After a scoring and taking a lead in the opening quarter, Holly Pond couldn’t keep pace with Fultondale the rest of the way as the Wildcats ran off 30 unanswered points to win on the road.

Both teams were scoreless for the first half of the first quarter before the Broncos tacked on eight points with just under seven minutes to play and took an early lead. Just over a minute later, Fultondale answered and found the end zone to cut the lead to just one for Holly Pond and the Broncos maintained a 1-point lead going into the second quarter.

The Wildcats scored just a few seconds into the second period to take a 14-8 lead and Holly Pond was never able to muster a response to the Fultondale scoring run. The Wildcats stretched their lead to 20-8 by the halftime break and continued to pull away in the third.

Fultondale scored again midway through the third quarter to go up 27-8 and a field goal on its next possession made it a 30-8 game with five minutes to play in the third. Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard again and the Wildcats pulled away to win it 30-8.

The Broncos fall to 1-4 on the season with the loss and will be back on the road next week to take on Danville.
