ADDISON, Ala. – Friday night was the season-opener for the Addison Bulldogs and to kick off 2019, they welcomed in the Curry Yellow Jackets.

After a scoreless first quarter, Addison put things away in the second quarter. The Bulldogs took over after a short Curry punt at the curry 24-yard line and after gaining 15 yards on two running plays and getting the game’s first, first down, Addison scored on a 1-yard run two plays later. The PAT was good, and the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead.

On the Yellow Jackets’ next possession, the quarterback was sacked by linebacker Caleb Crider and on the next play, Logan Wilkins intercepted a pass and returned it 52yds for a touchdown. The two-point attempt was no good and Addison moved ahead 13-0.

On Curry’s next possession, they got their first, first down of the game and on the next play Luke Waldrep sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble that Addison recovered at the 43-yard line. Two long passes from quarterback Dayton Roberts, one of 25 yards and one for 18 yards, got the Bulldogs down to the Curry 3-yard line. Running back Weston smith carried the ball in from the three for the touchdown and Roberts found Watkins for the two-point conversion, making it 21-0.

after another curry three and out, Addison converted a 3rd and 7 by throwing a screen pass from Roberts to Freshman running back Sage Smothers for a 38-yard touchdown. The PAT was no good, so Addison held a 27-0 advantage.

After the best of Curry’s drives, gaining two first downs and 16 yards, they were held by the Bulldogs defense and forced to punt. Nicholas rice returned the punt 82 yards for a touchdown, but it was called back due to a holding call.

Addison missed a field goal to end the half and took a 27-0 lead into the break.

After swapping punts to start the third quarter, Addison scored on a 31-yard run by Crider. The PAT was good, and the Bulldogs extended their lead to 34-0.

The fourth quarter was rather uneventful with Addison finishing the scoring on a 26-yard field goal from Eli Howse that brought the final score to 37-0.

Addison will have a test in front of them next week as they gear to travel to Piedmont with a chance to start the season 2-0.
