CULLMAN, Ala. – Topre America Corporation in Cullman on Tuesday was presented the 2018 Excellence in Value award from Honda. Out of 45 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers in North America that won awards, Topre was one of just four to be recognized in both categories: Delivery & Quality and Value. It is the eighth year in a row that Topre has received the award.

Senior Manager of North American Automotive Purchasing for Honda of America, Mike Lapham, addressed the staff of Topre, saying, “I am here today because you won a special award from us. These awards, we don’t hand out lightly.”

Honda has 715 OEMs and material suppliers in North America, and only 18 received the Excellence in Value award, putting Topre in the top 2.5%.

Lapham added, “The award that we are happy to present to you is the Excellence in Value award. It means you are doing really well in all categories. Excellence in Value focuses on your entire operation: your ability to be cost competitive, your ability to provide an excellent delivered quality each and every day, your ability to do new model developments without having spikes in your launch and lots of downtime that impacts your customer.”

The extraordinary aspect of the achievement is that Topre has achieved the Excellence in Value award from Honda for eight years in a row.

“You actually won this award last year, and when I went back into my records, you won the award in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014…This is unheard of. This is AMAZING work that each and every one of you are doing to actually accomplish these things. This doesn’t happen with the rest of our suppliers.”

Lapham presented the award to Topre America President Hideo Shimizu and Vice President of Operations Brad Pepper.

Pepper updated the employees on the expansions Topre is working on across the country including expansions happening in Cullman.

“I can’t say enough about the local economic development, Dale Greer and Peggy Smith,” he said. “Without them getting us here and staying with us the entire time here to help us to continue to grow, it wouldn’t be possible. Last but not least, all of these awards are due to your efforts today. I really appreciate everyone’s hard work.”
