Charlie Ray Absher, 76, of Hanceville, Alabama passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019. He was born Aug. 26, 1942 to Wiley Ray and Annie P. Davis Absher.
Mr. Absher served as a firefighter in Birmingham, Alabama for 20 years. He was also the owner of Star Fire Equipment for 30 years. Mr. Absher’s commitment to serve continued through being a volunteer firefighter for many years at different locations. He also was a fan of NASCAR.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jan Absher; daughters, Emily (George) Crittenden and Rebecca Jones; step-mother, Louise Absher; sisters, Sandra Sims and Diane Freeman; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. His parents and son-in-law T. J. Jones preceded him in death.
Visitation for Mr. Absher will be Sunday, May 26, 2019 from noon-2 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home with a celebration service of his life to follow visitation. Interment will be 4 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Gardendale, Alabama.
