WEST POINT, Ala. – Hamilton traveled to West Point Friday afternoon for a pair of area matchups with the Warriors and after taking game one 5-2, West Point bounced back and won game two 11-0 in five innings.

The Aggies scored a pair of runs in the top of the first and three in the top of the second to build an early lead against the Warriors. West Point had runners on the bags in the first and third innings but couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities and put runs on the board.

After five scoreless innings, the Warriors were able to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth on a 2-run double from Will Cochran that brought Branson Smith and Aubry Cleghorn home. The double cut the lead to 5-2 but it wasn’t enough to overcome Hamilton and West Point fell in game one 5-2.

Cochran (one hit) led the Warriors with two RBIs and Cleghorn, Levi Farley and Rylan Jones each recorded two hits in the loss.

After dropping the first matchup of the day, West Point tacked on six runs in the first inning of game two to take an early lead and stretched it to 10-0 by the end of the third. The Warriors added one more run on their way to an 11-0, five inning win.

West Point is now 3-2 in the area and 12-15 overall with road games against Saint Clair County and Mortimer Jordan coming up on Saturday.
