Obituary: Irene Hale

Irene Hale, 91, of Phil Campbell, entered into rest on March 4, 2019 at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Hale was born on Sept. 14, 1927, in Marion County, Alabama. She graduated from Phil Campbell High School and was an aide at Phillips High School for many years. Irene attended Bethel Baptist Church for 40 years and served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed walking to the lake and attending her grandkid's ballgames.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville, Alabama, where services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2 p.m. Brother John Stancil will officiate. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville, Alabama.

Irene is survived by her son, Randall Hale; daughters, Pam Knight and Robin Poe; her husband Randal; and sister, Lucy Hale. She was known as "Nanny" to her four grandchildren Nathaniel Knight, Danielle Self, Joseph Self, Chris Self; and her great-grandchild, Alexa Knight.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hale; parents, Hubert and Rosa Alexander; brothers, Roy Alexander, Ralph Alexander, and Hoyle Alexander; sister, Helen Brimer; and brother-in-law, Grady Hale.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Ruby Sheffield, Marcia Hulsey, and all of the staff at Amedysis Hospice. Also, a special thanks to Irene's sitters, Gina Bell and Tammy Scruggs, as well as special family friends, Rodney Fleming and Gerry Moses.
