ADDISON – Friday was senior night for the Addison Bulldogs and they hosted Hatton for their final home game of the regular season. It was all Addison in this one. The Bulldogs easily took care of business in their final region game of the season, 50-8. They are now in a three-way tie for first place in the region with Red Bay and Colbert County.

The Bulldog defense forced a Hatton punt to start out the game and Addison got excellent field position after a bad punt that was spotted at the 26. After a holding penalty took away a touchdown by Logan Wilkins on the first play, Zayne Guthrie found the end zone on the next play with a 24-yard run to put the Bulldogs on top early. That would be the only score of the quarter as Addison went into the second period leading 6-0.

After forcing another Hatton punt, the Bulldogs marched their way down the field. Grant Rice picked up a key first down and Guthrie found Wilkins for a 39-yard pickup, putting them at the Hatton 21-yard line. Guthrie later found the end zone for the second time in the game on a 17-yard, hard-nosed run that made it 12-0. Rice picked off a Hatton pass on the next drive and on the ensuing Addison possession, Guthrie found a big hole on the left side and scored on a 98-yard run to increase the lead to 20-0.

Noah Jeffreys recovered a fumble on the kickoff and the Bulldogs quickly cashed in on the opportunity as Guthrie found Wilkins over the middle for a 19-yard touchdown pass to make it a 28-0 score at the half.

Addison added three more scores in the second half: a 31-yard touchdown pass from Guthrie to Jorge Smith, a Caleb Crider 4-yard run and a 10-yard run by Colton Tyree. Hatton scored in the fourth quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass and on a safety to make the final score 50-8.

The Bulldogs finish with a record of 8-2 in the regular season and 5-1 in the region. Four seniors played their last regular season game at Addison: Guthrie, Gage Gilliland, Hayden Ray and Trace Thompson.

Guthrie had a huge night as he finished with 192 rushing yards and three scores. He also went 10-of-16 for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air. Wilkins added 58 yards on a pair of catches and a touchdown, while Smith ended up with 31 receiving yards and a score. The defense forced four turnovers and allowed just 129 yards of offense. Rice and Smith each had interceptions, while Jeffreys and Timothy Trussell each had fumble recoveries.

Addison will get a week off before hitting the field again for the first round of the state playoffs on Nov. 9.
