Scholars’ Bowl scoreboard: middle schools kick off season

HANCEVILLE – On Tuesday, Cullman area middle schools kicked off their 2018-19 Scholars’ Bowl season with matches at Wallace State.  Perennial powerhouse West Point dominated, winning all three of its matches and more than doubling the score of each of its opponents.  Cullman made a strong showing as well, although St. Bernard forced a tiebreaker in the second round.

Round one:

  • West Point 365, Holly Pond 70
  • St. Bernard 245, Fairview 90
  • Cullman 260, Vinemont 130

Round two:

  • West Point 340, Fairview 135
  • Cullman 175, St. Bernard 175; Cullman won in a tiebreaker
  • Vinemont 325, Holly Pond 70

Round three:

  • West Point 340, Vinemont 160
  • Good Hope 130, St. Bernard 105
  • Cullman 255, Fairview 90

The Tribune will be following scholars’ bowl action throughout the season.  Middle school matches take place on Tuesdays and high school matches, which begin next week, will be on Thursdays.  A special thanks to Wallace State’s Christine O’Leary and West Point coach Lee Henry for providing scores.
