EUFAULA – Wallace State students Emily Dia, Challie Johnson, Jada Golden, Katie Burden, Griffin Morris and Truman Boyd represented the college recently at the Student Leadership Institute (SLI) hosted by the Alabama Community College System at the Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula.

This year’s theme was “The Nature of Leadership,” as approximately 200 students from Alabama’s community colleges engaged and collaborated with each other through multiple exercises and activities. The two-day event featured sessions focusing on leadership styles and team development; dilemmas and decisions; storytelling, networking and etiquette; personal leadership; personal values; and preparing to lead. Tennessee-based Four16 Training Solutions facilitated the events and activities.

Dia is from Hayden, Johnson is from Hartselle, Golden and Boyd are from Fairview, Burden is from Courtland and Morris is from Holly Pond.

The annual event is sponsored by the Alabama Deans of Students Affairs Association.

Academic advisor/graduation coach Whit Rice and Dr. Ryan Smith, Wallace State’s new dean of students, were also present at the event.
