CULLMAN – Work on Interstate 65 from Exit 305 south to the Blount County line continues after a week’s delay.

Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) North Regional Public Information Officer Seth Burkett said on Friday, “They lost a week between rain and Rock the South last week, but the contractor about finished with the ramps this week and is looking to begin paving the mainline, starting with the northbound inside lane, on Tuesday night or Wednesday night if weather permits.”

Burkett said that once that work begins, motorists should expect delays due to single-lane closures between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Thursday nights, continuing for several weeks.

“The contractor is bringing in an additional crew to simultaneously pave the rest areas. The northbound rest area will be closed Monday morning thorough Friday afternoon. It will reopen for the weekend,” he said.
