PREP SOFTBALL: Addison racks up 20 hits in 12-7 road win

LYNN – Despite not clinching a play-off berth, the Addison Lady Bulldogs still looked to finish the season on a positive note as they took on Lynn in a road match-up Thursday. They started out strong and were able to hold off a big inning by Lynn to take the game, 12-7.

The Lady Bulldogs got started early to begin the game. Cecille Gaither and Kendra Tyree each drew walks in the opening inning and Gaither went to third on a wild pitch while Tyree stole second. Anna Luker brought them both in with a two-run single to center field. After an Abbie Chambless single, Madison Aderholt blooped an RBI single over the head of shortstop Hannah Alsup to make it a 3-0 Addison lead. Aderholt finished with three hits and five RBIs for the game. Brieanna Ory made it 4-0 with another RBI single.

Aderholt added a two-run single in the top of the third to increase the Lady Bulldog lead to 6-0. Lynn, though, countered in their half as a pair of Addison errors early led to a pair of runs. The first error, by the catcher, to lead off the inning, led to Ashley Jones hitting an RBI triple, and then a Tyree error at second allowed Lynn to push across another run. A pair of singles by Macy Foster and Sidnie Esters loaded up the bases for Alsup, who cleared them with a three-run triple to center field. An Ory error at third allowed Alsup to come across the plate, cutting the Lady Bulldog lead to one at 6-5.

Addison loaded up the bases with one out in the top of the fourth. Aderholt hit a two-run single to right field, then Ory lined an RBI single to center field to make it a 9-5 game. Back-to-back one-out doubles by Macey Butler and Tyree added to the Lady Bulldogs’ lead in the fifth. Tyree later scored on a passed ball and Chambless brought home Luker with a suicide squeeze. Another Addison error in the bottom of the fifth led to another Lynn run, and Foster hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Bulldogs were able to hold on to their lead and leave Lynn with the win.

Luker had three hits, two RBIs and scored four runs for Addison, which saw every starter collect at least one hit in the game. Chambless went 4-for-4 with an RBI and scored three runs. Ory went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Tyree collected two hits, an RBI and scored three runs. Walker added two hits; Gaither (one run scored), Butler (one run scored) and Brianna Chandler each chipped in with a hit. The Lady Bulldogs improve to 10-16 overall and will face off against Lynn next Tuesday at home.
