CULLMAN – A high-speed chase along Alabama Highway 157 Tuesday morning ended when the vehicle being pursued by the Cullman County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) flipped. The driver, identified by Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry as Dylan Keith Loyd, 26, of Blountsville, was not injured.

"We received a call from a citizen who observed on their farm this morning this individual (Loyd) steal a vehicle," Gentry said. "Deputies intercepted the vehicle and attempted to stop the individual. The individual ended up wrecking the vehicle. There were no injuries."

According to Cullman City Police Chief Kenny Culpepper, "We got a call from the sheriff's office that they were involved in a high-speed chase involving a possibly stolen vehicle on Highway 157 westbound. Lt. (Jeff) Warnke was at Eva Road with his blue lights on, waiting."

Culpepper said the subject wrecked and flipped his vehicle in front of Jack's.

Loyd was taken into custody by Warnke and a sheriff's deputy.

According to Gentry, Loyd has been charged with two counts of first-degree receiving stolen property, one count of first-degree theft of property, one count of fleeing and eluding police and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center without bond.

"He (Loyd) is also the subject of another vehicle theft investigation," said Gentry.
