HANCEVILLE –  Wallace State’s Job Placement Office is a new resource available to Wallace State students.

The Job Placement Office is located on the ninth floor of the Bailey Center in room 903 and coordinated by Jamie Blackmon, who also serves as Wallace State’s Winston County Works Director.

“We want to offer assistance in a variety of areas, from helping a student with their resume, to professional head shots to helping them with mock interviews. We want to do our best to prepare our students for the workplace and be career ready,” Blackmon said. “It’s more than job placement. We’re also focused on job preparation.”

Students can also utilize the Job Placement Office to learn more about internships tailored to their interests or job fairs in the area.

Wallace State traditionally hosts a job and career fair each spring for its students and the community, and Blackmon hopes to build upon and increase those opportunities.

“We serve so many different students from different types of places. We want to broaden our horizons and see if we can find them work wherever they are willing to locate. For instance, I recently had a call from Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, and they were looking for potential engineering technology students who could move to Birmingham, Huntsville or Mobile,” Blackmon said. “We want to help our students with whatever is the next step for them professionally.”

Beginning this fall, the Job Placement Office will collaborate with other campus services such as Success Coaching, Advising, and Student Support Services to provide comprehensive support to our soon-to-be graduates.
